How can I get the speed limit lowered in my neighborhood?

There are no speed limit signs in my neighborhood, which by default means the speed limit is 25 mph. However, this is simply too fast for our small residential neighborhood with blind corners and small children. Many of my neighbors agree and as such we would like the speed limit to be lowered. I am happy to speak with whomever necessary and am confident I could get significant support in the form of a petition if needed, I just do not know who to speak with on this matter.

Has anyone tried to do this before? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!|||Contact your city's public safety department and your representative on the city council.|||Talk to the county commissioner.|||make it a bicycle only neighborhood,at that speed they could pass a car.|||You and your neighbors have to go too city or town counsel and requite it|||That depends on the state and maybe even a more local jurisdiction.

In CA, it is a complex matter, and the limit can not be set at less then what 85% of the people travel, lest it be considered a speed trap. that means studies must be done, hearings must be held, etc.|||you need to go before the city council which is responsible for the speed law changes in a city.....with the help of your State's Dept. Of Transportation and their study of it....but the first thing would be to approach the city council|||run for Mayor
