What is a safe weight limit on big trampolines?

I've been looking recently to buy one of those giant trampolines that are for outdoor use, and i have been thoroughly confused by the weight limit. On a standard 8 foot trampoline, it says that the weight limit is 220 pounds, yet I know people who have pretty much the same model trampoline and 4-5 people can go on it and it doesn't collapse or anything. So what does the suggested weight limit mean and should I heed it? Thanks.|||the suggested weight limit is to to tell you not to go over it by too much and if you want multiple people on it then make sure their not too overweight|||Trampoline manufacturers test the components of the trampoline and put the weight restriction at a safe limit. The trampolines may hold more but they are confident and can guarantee that the trampolines hold 220 lbs. 4-5 people may go on there and maybe someone that weighs more can go on there, but if something happens the trampoline manufacturer is covered. It is for safety reasons that they set rules and limits. Btw, there are bigger and heavier duty trampolines out there that are tested to hold 440 lbs...|||Don't pen me down on this but i would say about 500 2 600 pounds|||If you drop thru it, you were too big!!
