How do I limit the character length in a mail merge from excel? What is the code?

I need to limit the size when it merges, and I can not seem to get it to limit the length. I have a 33,000 mail merge, so going through the list and changing it is not an option. Thanks.|||why don't you create another column in excel where you limit the length of the text you want using =left(ref,#of characters) then use that field in your mail merge. should take about 10 seconds that way. searching for codes in Word could take days.....
