How can I limit the stories that show up on the new Facebook homepage?

There's too much information, like pictures, statuses and even people's messages to each other. How can I limit the stories that show up?|||On the new Facebook, you can easily scroll your mouse over aside from where the thing is and it shows an ''x'' and you can click on that and it takes the info away..i dont think it takes it away for good its only for that time then when it pops up again another day saying something else about him/her or about a group or app, then you do the same procedure.
