How can I limit bandwidth to others on my network?

I'm not being a bad person but this is really annoying me now. My Brothers are always on their respective xboxs and download rubbish, slowing the whole network. Is there a way that I can limit the amount they can download to their xboxs so it in turn frees up the network?

Thanks|||First, you need to go to run%26gt;gpedit.msc%26gt;administrative templates%26gt;network%26gt;QoS packet scheduler. From here find the menu item "limit reservable bandwidth". Set this to zero and apply the change. that will free up bandwidth that Windows reserves for automatic updates.

From there, if you have a router that can be configured to cap bandwidth on certain devices, then you can do that manually.

You can also replace their Cat5e cable with poor quality Cat5. If you are running at Gigabit speeds, that should slow them down to 100mb/s or less if the cable really sucks.

One other thing you can do is buy a couple of old 10 baseT switches and put them between the XBOX and the router. That'll definitely slow them down, providing you don't run into any compatibility issues.

Outside of that, you can walk over and disconnect their XBOX's.|||What make %26amp; model of router do you have?

Does it support Quality of Service (QoS)?

You may be able to set priority of certain devices above others.
